After last weekends loss in the Essex 2nd Cup, the Mens 2nd XV hope to reverse the result against Southend in this Saturday's Merit League Final.

The rescheduled Essex Merit Finals will be played this Saturday and sees two Chelmsford Mens teams in action and hoping to bring home the silverware. Both finals will be held at Rochford RFC and please come to support the boys if you can.

The day starts at 12:30pm with the 3rd XV who play Basildon RFC in the Division 4 Merit Final. This is followed at 5pm by the Division 1 Merit Final which sees the 2nd XV play Southend RFC. Having narrowly lost to the same Southend in the final of the Essex 2nd Team Cup (31-29) last weekend, the boys are keen to take the silverware this weekend.

I know all the players taking part will do the club proud knowing the whole club is behind them! Come on you Blueboys!

On the Sunday, the focus switches to the juniors as the club hosts its' 49th Annual Minis Festival. This is the longest running minis festival in the county and one that is the highlight of the year for many kids. Fixtures start at 09:30 and there won't be a blade of grass in sight as u7-u12 teams from all over the county take to the park.

There will be very limited parking at Coronation Park on Sunday for the festival and visitors are advised to park along New Dukes Way (CM2 6ZJ) using the footbridge to access the ground or at the Essex Police, Sports and Social Ground (CM2 6DT ) which provides direct access to the far side of the park. Marshalls will help direct you to parking on the day but we ask all our visitors to take very careful note of any parking restrictions and show due consideration to our neighbours.

Finally - the following weekend sees the conclusion of the 2023/24 rugby season as the club plays host to the Essex round of the Lit 7s on Saturday 27th. This will see 20 sevens teams fight it out in a festival of ruby that includes a Mens and Ladies teams from Chelmsford. The action starts at 10:00. This a whole club event with Inflatables for the kids, food, drink and fun in addition to the on-field action. Following the conclusion of the Lit 7s, there will be a Vets 15-a-side tournament to conclude the rugby but the clubhouse will be open to late. Please come down and show your support.

Finally, Sunday 28th sees the u13s, u14s and u15s in action at the Essex County Finals at Westcliff RFC as they all look to finish their season with some silverware. More details to follow on this shortly but again please support it you can!
