Blue Boys stampede to 83-0 win over Campion

Chelmsford 83 0 Campion
Chelmsford took control of the game from the kick off and scored some impressive tries during this game. Chelmsford’s forwards pushed their opponents off the ball in the first scrum of the match and their forward domination was a feature of the game.
Playing up the slope in the first half, after ten minutes, there was an excellent relay of the ball along the backs to Jamie Ash
, who showed real pace to score under the posts. This was Ash’s second game back for Chelmsford and a hamstring strain took him out 10 minutes into his first game, so it was excellent to see such a strong return. Next, it was the turn of Ross Toomey
- who had a fine game, showing great versatility to have gone from winger to flanker and performed in both positions - to score following a five metre lineout. The conversion kick by the golden booted Jordan Ayling
brought him up to 100 points for the season.
Although Campion won some ball, they could never make ground as Chelmsford’s defensive tackling was so destructive. Stalwart Dave Hyett was next on the try scoring list with a dart over the line. From the kick off, the ball was caught by Scott James
who made 40 metres before feeding the fast running Jack Acorn
to score the fourth and final try of the half. Half time Chelmsford 24 Campion 0
The second half turned into a rout, with nine further tries being scored, of which seven were converted by Ayling. The flying Acorn brothers – Jack and Tom - scored two tries each from the wings; Jamie Ash
scored two further tries to make it a hattrick; and Mike Dawson and Ross Toomey
waded in with a try a piece. Some of the tries scored were the best seen at Coronation Park this season and the victory made up for some of the disappointment of the loss at Portsmouth in the National Vase the previous week. Next week Chelmsford travel to Barking for a league game, kicking off 3.00pm
