Welcome to the Chelmsford RFC U10's Hompage

U10 rugby is for those children in Year 5 at primary school.

This season sees the children continuing with their development of the tackling and passing skills they learned last season, plus the introduction of Rucks, Mauls and Scrums. The focus this year will be on speed in attack, with offloading the ball before being tackled being key. The Rucks will be two players, one from each team, Mauls will be 2 v 2, Scrums will be 3 v 3 uncontested

With this being full contact rugby, mouth guards are compulsory, with no exceptions in either training or matches/festivals - no mouth guard, no training, no play!

Our aim is for the children to have fun each week, while learning the Core Values of Rugby – (TERDS) Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship as this is what makes the game special for those who enjoy the environment and culture they create.

We expect all children and adults to adhere to these values at all times during training and matches

Please see our club mini’s ethos on the minis home page –

We rank having fun on Sunday mornings above all else second only to safety, and at these age groups we focus on teaching skills and the enjoyment of the sport and allow the competitive spirit to develop naturally rather than emphasising the competition above participation.

We welcome children of all abilities, and all capabilities. We make sure that the environment for young children at CRFC is safe and hospitable so that children feel included from the first morning they join us.

We focus on achievement above success. We do not stream children by ability or experience, for games that we play against other clubs, we organise the children into squads that are mixed in terms of experience and ability. This develops the kids’ understanding of team play and mutual support, whatever their individual abilities.
