U15s v Upminster and Wanstead

With over 20 players missing from the squad this weekend including a starting prop, both starting second rows and all the usual back row it was always going to be a tough ask for the travelling Chelmsford boys against a talented and highly motivated Upminster side.

With the backs struggling to get any kind of possession, most of the game was spent on the defensive and it is a credit to the boys that the score was not higher. The Christmas break should see all the boys return to full health and all raring to go in the new year.

Meanwhile, at Coronation Park, a Development XV played a second friendly against Wanstead. Wanstead only had 14 players available for this one but Chelmsford lent the boys a player for a tight game that was competitive from start to finish. For the second time this season, a single score separated the teams with Wanstead edging the game 19-21 at the whistle. It was a great game played in just the right spirit as always.

U15s return to play in January with a two away fixtures with a new fixture against Warmlingham in Surrey and a League fixture away to Romford and Gidea Park to look forward to.
