Chelmsford U15 delivered a commanding performance to secure the Essex Cup Final with an emphatic 43–3 victory over a Westcliff side that has dominated county rugby in recent years.
From the opening whistle, Chelmsford set the tone with an exceptionally strong and ruthless start. Playing with pace, precision, and confidence, they ran in four unanswered tries, overwhelming Westcliff and seizing full control of the contest. Their intensity never dipped, and by half-time they had built a formidable 33–0 lead.
The second half presented a sterner test as Westcliff showed their quality and resilience, fighting hard to get back into the game. However, Chelmsford’s defensive discipline was outstanding throughout, repelling wave after wave of pressure. Aside from a single penalty that put three points on the board for Westcliff, the Chelmsford defence held firm, showcasing organisation, commitment, and determination.
Chelmsford continued to manage the game intelligently, adding further points to cap a complete team performance. The final whistle confirmed a 43–3 victory—an outstanding achievement against a side that has set the standard in Essex rugby over the past four years.
After the match, head coach Charles Graham reflected on the performance with pride:
"I, along with the other coaches and parents, are extremely proud of what the team produced today. This wasn’t just about the result—it was about the character, the work ethic, and the togetherness the boys have shown all season. They’ve trained hard, supported each other, and trusted the process, and today it all came together on the biggest stage. To see them play with that level of confidence, discipline, and enjoyment is incredibly special, and it’s something they should all be very proud of."
