We are really proud to share the news that our Chair, Gabby Rowe has been named by the RFU as one of the RFU's 25 female pioneers of rugby. Gabby has supported every section of the club in various roles before taking the step up to the top job and the RFU were blown away by her level of commitment to the club.
Modest as ever, Gabby has been very quick to point out she could not done all she has so far had it not been for the support of so many club members, both past and present.
Gabby says "I am truly honoured to have been recognised as one of the RFU Female Pioneers of English Rugby. To stand alongside 24 other inspiring women trailblazers feels surreal—especially as many of them are England players, coaches, and medics"
"I look forward to continuing to inspire more people—especially women and girls—to get involved in the game, whether as players, coaches, match officials, or parents".
Writing about the impact that having more women involved in rugby at the top level, Deborah Griffin, RFU President commented “We are delighted to honour these 25 exceptional individuals as pioneers of English rugby. From those early days when the women’s game fought for recognition and opportunity, through to the thriving and rapidly developing landscape we see today, the role these individuals played has been nothing short of transformative. They are part of a much larger group who have transformed the game across England. We could have named far more pioneers than the 25."
