On a wet and windy afternoon Chelmsford put on their best display of the season to record their fifth league win of the season and to continue to be unbeaten in the league. Chelmsford scored six converted tries during the game.

Old Cooperians were under pressure straight from the kick off, eventually a kick was charged down and from the resulting lineout, fifteen yards from the try line, a catch and drive from the pack saw Paul Redford go over.

Playing up the slope, the Chelmsford defence was in fine form, Cooperians found it difficult to make any ground. Chelmsford went further ahead after half an hour when a fine kick ahead from Jordan Ayling was followed up by Ed Wild to score close to the posts. Chelmsford lost their way during the last ten minutes of then first half giving away penalties and as a consequence ground and conceded a try when the Cooperian second row drove over the line. Half time 14-5

Playing down the slope in the pouring rain and windy conditions, running the ball was always going to be difficult. Jordan Ayling kicked sensibly always keeping the ball in front of his forwards. From one such kick a lineout was won and from that maul David Hyett went over. Shortly after the best try of the afternoon was scored when the ball was fed wide along the backs at pace Tom Taylor had no time to catch the ball, but tipped the ball to Tom Acorn who eventually ran around to score under the posts.

Further tries were scored, by Tom Taylor, following up an excellent kick and by Warren Woodward who darted over to score the final. Next week there is no league match but Chelmsford travel to Thetford in the cup
