Chelmsford achieved a comprehensive victory over a side who had narrowly beaten them earlier in the season. Joel Young had a particularly good game, scoring three conversions and scoring the last try of the game. His kicking from hand was exceptional both with and against the strong wind.

Playing up the slope and into the wind in the first half Cantabs never used the elements to their advantage. Chelmsford took the lead, following a poor kick by Cantabs, when Frankie Hart took their defence by surprise when he took a short penalty and went off on his own to sprint in for a try from thirty yards. They went further ahead following after slick handling released Matt Barker who fed Jimmy Allway to score in the corner.
During the time, fifteen minutes either side of half time, Chelmsford were not at their best, their handling let them down and they gave a number of penalties away, which allowed Cantabrigians to come back into the game.Just before half time , following a slick backs move, Cantabrigians reduced their arrears when their centre burst through for a converted try.

Initially, during the first part of the second half, Cantabs looked like they might get back in the game, but as Chelmsford have shown on many occasions this season, they are a fit team and they often score towards the end of the second half time. With twenty minutes left, they showed real pace in the backs before releasing Allway, for his second try well converted by Young. Minutes later Will Cooper barged over following a five metre lineout and finally Joel Young found a small gap to run in from thirty metres for the final try.

Next Saturday will see Chelmsford play South Woodham at home in the rearranged fixture. Kick off 2.00pm
