This was a fiercely fought game for the first hour of the match before Chelmsford eventually made their superior handling and fitness pay. Chelmsford playing up the slope in the first half took the game to West Norfolk but found their opponents to be hard tackling and difficult to penetrate. They did get an early try following a scrum and a quick a back row pick up which Scott James characteristically caught on the burst to hammer through the defence. Harry Mosely, duly converted, he had an excellent game, converting all seven tries and scoring two tries, scoring 24 points.

After Chelmsford’s first try West Norfolk came back into the game gaining excellent position by their forwards. When penalties were awarded they duly took them and they scored with three well taken kicks and after half an hour they had the lead. Just before half time Chelmsford retook the lead when Jamie Ash collected the ball and fed top try scorer Jack Acorn who sprinted over in the corner.

As the half progressed the Chelmsford forwards gradually gained more ball and their set scrums and lineouts were much improved on previous weeks. With more ball, the Chelmsford backs were given opportunities and Moseley scored his second try when he weaved through close to the posts. West Norfolk began to tire. Next it was Jack Acorn to score his second try, showing a clean pair of heels to the covering defence. In the last quarter of the game further tries were scored by Jamie Ash and Jimmy Allway . West Norfolk never gave up but could not cope with the speed and handling skills utilised by the Chelmsford team in the second half.
