A pulsating game played in a good spirit against the elements where the Chelmsford II's were made to work hard against a resilient Wanstead II's side who were very competitve throughout this fixture.
Having faced Wanstead II's at home earlier in the season and coming second this Blueboy II's side where determined to approach the away fixture with a changed mindset.
From the off and playing into the strong breeze Chelmsford looked the stronger in attack with forwards and backs linking well resulting in three well worked tries.
Wanstead managed to get into the game making breaks and looking dangerous and were rewarded with two well worked tries.
The score line at half time was 14 - 19 in Chelmsford's favour.
After the break both sides went in search of more scores and produced some entertaining rugby for the large home support and the half a dozen travelling Chelmsford side line contingent.
The game itself was very evenly matched and both sides looking to breakdown the opposition and as the collisions, breakdown and tackling started to take there toll on both sides with both sets of players making their tackles with ferocity and determination.
Chelmsford's defensive edge preventing the Wanstead side from crossing the try line on numerous occasions but with Wanstead attacking and finding space it was inevitable they would be rewarded and they eventually managed to force their way over the line to take a narrow lead for the first time in the game at 33 - 31.
As the clock ticked down and with the Blueboys II's "never surrender" attitude coupled with their complete teamwork ethos they went on the hunt and just when Wanstead thought they had won the game with only a couple of minutes left on the clock the Blueboys II's made a pulsating length of the field play in front of the home crowd and with excellent interplay they scored the try of the game.
The conversion sailing through the uprights making the score 33 - 38 in Chelmsford's favour.
The next league game for this team is on Saturday 11th April and sees the Blueboys II's at home to league leaders Westcliff II's. Please come and support the lads who playing some entertaining rugby showing your talent, strength and maturity.
