Writtle Wanderers 2nd XV 17 Chelmsford 3rd XV 61

The Development XV travelled across town to play Writtle Wanderers 2nd XV at Paradise Park. After the disappointing defeat against Basildon two weeks previously, all were looking forward to blowing away the cobwebs.

Writtle had been in touch to say they were low on numbers, so a squad of 26 were ready and willing to 'play where selected'. The game was free flowing and a number of tries were scored including a hat trick from 'new dad' Mike Dawson, a trio from Pete Baya and a single try from George Moorcroft.

In the second half a number of lads put on the orange and black jersey of Writtle Wanderers. In the words of Charlie Walubita, who was watching on the touchline, 'it was a good day for grass roots rugby'.

Hopefully a few more games to play this season, but as it was the last official league game, the 'Cowboy and Cowgirl' social was eagerly awaited. Well done lads.
