Away to Billericay and Maldon

Two games for the u14s this weekend as the boys continued their preparations for the Essex Cup finals at the end of March.

The first game of the day saw a mixed team 3’s & 1s make the short journey to play Maldon for a friendly match. After a slow start that saw Maldon score twice, Chelmsford recovered to bring the score back to 12-10 at the break. Sadly, the second half followed the similar script as the first and a series of errors led to Maldon once again taking the lead. However, this time Chelmsford were unable to respond and Maldon ran out 27-17 winners.

The second game was also a local derby with the 2s travelling a similar distance to play Billericay. After a close first half that saw both sides exchange scores. The change of half saw Chelmsford get the advantage of both the slope and the wind and the boys scored 6 tries without response, comfortably winning the game 26-57 at the final whistle.

All eyes now turn to the Essex Cup finals on the 26th March which will see the 1s play the No1. final against Thurrock RFC at Eton Manor. Having lost to Thurrock in the semi-finals, the 2s travel to Westcliff to play the 3rd place final. Finally the 3s have a tough trip to Billericay for their final.
