An arm wrestle that sees the Chelmsford Colts pipped at the post.

On a clear and crisp winters lunchtime with a fresh cross pitch breeze and the panoramic blue sky around us our Blu Boy Colts welcomed Woodbridge Colts to Coronation Park.

Today's game was about giving everyone more game time, playing lads out of position so they have more exposure to playing all roles even putting them out of their comfort zone and testing themselves.

It was good to see everyone who played today made their mark and did very well against a good Woodbridge squad.

It's pleasing to see the lads looking like a good team who work hard for each other and are starting to trust their teamates which is really good to see.

Woodbridge over the many years the club has been established have always produced great youth sides and its credit to their many volunteers and coaches for their time spent helping the club develop.

On paper neither side knew anything about the other so it's a good start point for the lads from both teams to work out the oppostion and play what is in front of them.

Woodbridge came with a fast flowing and fluid style of rugby however it was the Blue Boys U18s that took the game straight to the oppostion for the start.

With direct running rugby and interlinking play putting Woodbridge on the back foot for the opening exchanges.

Credit to Woodbridge for weathering the early storm as they started to impose their game on Chelmsford.
The game was too and fro and scores from both sides kept the scoreboard officals busy all afternoon.

Some great expansive rugby and big tackles from both teams played in the spirit of rugby.

All very much enjoyed by the side line support.

Respect was shown from both teams and the game was always competitive right to the last.

With a couple of minutes to go our Blue Boys had Woodbridge pinned on their own line and with the score 28 - 33 in the oppostions favour a last assault was made by the Blue Boys however credit to Woodbridge who keep the defensive standards high and won the ball inside their own half and some telling runs and interlinking rugby allowed the winger to break free and score the final try of the game.

The conversion was positive making he final score 28 - 40 to Woodbridge.

Thank you to everyone from Woodbridge for making the journey down the A12.
Thank you to all the coaches, first aiders and medics helping both teams from the touchline.
Thank you to all the Chelmsford support on the touchline.

Big thank you to Yannick from our U14s who refereed today's game fairly having only being asked and agreeing 24 hours before the game.

We look forward to organising the away fixture for our lads travelling to Woodbridge which we are sure will be played in the same spirit of the game.

Thursday night we will have our last training session of the year and then allow the lads to relax a bit over the Christmas period.

Those with knocks please look after yourselves and don't over do it.

Well done to everyone involved today.
