Chelmsford Colts make the journey across the river for a closely fought encounter with Old Dartfordians.

On a fresh morning our Blue Boy Colts took the journey south over the Thames and into London on the A2 to play Dartfordians Colts in an arranged training game.

It has to be said the game was played well and truly in the spirit of rugby with respect and sportsmanship shown for each side as well as referee Steve who played his part in an entertaining game for all those who were on the paddock.

This game was much about providing more game time for the lads and to try a few things out although a number of players were not available or were rested for this game.

The scoreline flatters the Blue Boys however had Dartfordians made that last pass count then the final scoreline would have been much closer - maybe even a draw which would of been a fitting end to a good game.

The game was played in a frantic manner by both side probably as the Blue Boys haven't had any game time or training due to waterlogged pitches. The last competitive game was before the Christmas break.

As the game started to progress Chelmsford started to run into traffic and all to often do not seem willing to play a team game with too many players wanting to do everything by themselves forgetting there are players in support making overlaps.
Too many chances went begging as supporting players weren't used.
Chelmsford need to communicate better with each other.
The coaches aren't there to shout and scream instructions from the touch line and tell them what to do and will not do this.
The lads needs to work it out for themselves - some things will work, some things won't work its down to the lads on the pitch.
We need to be better at playing the ball and moving it around.
It's hoped the lads have now got the one man rugby game out of their systems as we prepare this week to travel to Barking Colts next Sunday where the Crusaders side will be tested.
Thank you to everyone that came to support and get the lads to the game.

Thank you to Claire and Tom our first aiders on the day.

Big thank you to our hosts Dartfordians RFC and coaches Martin, Steve and the team as well.as referee Steve.
We look forward to welcoming you to Chelmsford in the coming weeks where I'm sure we will be able to enjoy another good game of rugby for all our lads, coaches and parents alike.
