It was a tough first outing of 2025 for the Bluebirds as they headed to the historic Wasps FC club to face a very different side to the one that was well beaten at Coronation Park earlier in the season. On a bitterly cold day they match was also switched to the AGP so it could go ahead, and it certainly suited a Wasps FC Womens side boasting a number of players with Premiership and international experience. The home side started as they meant to go scoring in the first couple of minutes, and continued to do so throughout the first half with their talented 10 slotting kicks from all angles. HT 47-0 Wasps Women.

As always the Bluebirds showed that they will never stop working until the final whistle and certainly had phases of play where they put pressure on the Wasps Women defence. The Bluebirds were dominant in both the scrum and line out, but were unable to replicate that dominance in open play. Wasps Women continued to turn the screw scoring at regular intervals in the second half, and to the Bluebirds credit, towards the end of the game they had some excellent phases of attacking play but the home side held firm to seal the victory they desperately wanted.

Well done to Wasps Women and wish them well for the remainder of the season. The Bluebirds go again in 2 weeks time on 26th January for their first home game of 2025 against Chesham Stags - all support will be greatly appreciated as always.
