Team info

Welcome to the Chelmsford RFC U12 Sharks

U12 rugby is for boys in Year 7 at secondary school. We welcome players of all abilities and absolutely no playing experience is necessary. Warm up starts at 9:30 and we are usually all done by 11:30. All the kids need to play is normal sports kit, a pair of boots if it is muddy and mouthguard (this is essential and can be bought online for a few quid).

This season will see the children continuing with their development of the tackling, rucking/mauling and passing skills, plus the introduction of tactical kicking/restarts. With this being full contact rugby, mouth guards are compulsory, with no exceptions in either training or matches/festivals - no mouth guard, no training, no play!

Our aim is for the children to have fun each week, while learning the Core Values of Rugby – (TREDS) Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship as this is what makes the game special for those who enjoy the environment and culture they create. We expect all children and adults to adhere to these values at all times during training and matches

Please see our club mini’s ethos on the minis home page – http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/chelmsford/teams/190081.

We rank having fun on Sunday mornings above all else second only to safety, and at these age groups we focus on teaching skills and the enjoyment of the sport and allow the competitive spirit to develop naturally rather than emphasising the competition above participation. We focus on achievement above success. We do not stream children by ability or experience, for games that we play against other clubs, we organise the children into squads that are mixed in terms of experience and ability. This develops the kids’ understanding of team play and mutual support, whatever their individual abilities.

Training restarts from the first Sunday in September at 09:30am - please avoid parking in Timpsons Lane and if the club car park is full please park in New Dukes Way

We train and play on the top half of the pitch that is closest to the car park (the cricket pavillion end). Parents are requested to stay for the duration of the session and we would kindly ask that you let one of the admins/coaching team know if your child is to be left unattended. The clubhouse is open throughout the session but players (and parents) are warmly encouraged to come up after training/games for drink and a snack.
