10. Club policy on Gum Sheilds

Anyone under the age of 18 are required to wear gum shields for any contact training and matches. It is down to the parents to enforce and the coaches to check.

The rfu guidance strongly recommends gum shields for all contact rugby for all ages. As a club we feel we should manage player wealthfare in the best way possible, therefore any player who does not have a gum shield for training, can not take part in the contact part and can not take part in matches

In minis and youth, if a visiting team arrives and does not have gum shields, then a non-contact game will need to be played. This is for the safety of ours and their players.

Anyone over the age of 18 can decide if they choose to wear one or not, however the club would prefer that all players of CRFC adopt the same approach and wear gum shields for both training and matches.
Gum shields can be purchased from the bar, sports shops, or online. There is a discretionary fund for those who may struggle to afford one.
